Completed Cross Stitch Portrait (March 2017)
Harrison's cross stitch portrait is finally completed! Designed by matching colour pixels to thread. This portrait contains 74,803 cross stitches and 815 hours of designing and stitching time! It took about 8 years on and off to complete this, much longer than I expected but I thoroughly enjoyed it! A Work in Progress (July 2014) As a coloured pencil portrait artist I really wanted to do something unique for my own children. I already have 600 + hours devoted to this project so far. It is estimated to have nearly 75,000 cross-stitches when completed! This is a work in progress and I have about 75% completed. Zooming in on a digital photo I capture pixels of pure colour to then match as closely as possible to the thread selections. I then design my own pattern, and at this point it is totaling over 100 pages! My oldest, Harrison, is ten now and it was much to our amazement when we found this photo when he was three years old. I had forgotten how adorable he was with his curly brown hair, big brown eyes and squeezable cheeks. It seemed the perfect reference photo to use. I am hoping to have it completed in the next few months. I will post a pic of the completed project on this website upon completion.
